Lighting, to cycle or not to cycle.

I have a 180g and a new lighting system. I have the option to turn certain lights on/off with a timer. What do you guys do, run the lights in a pattern like the sun, lights turn off from one side to the other overlapping, or do you turn all the lights on for a certain amount of time? Any input would be great. Thanks...

Here are the speecs for the lights

3x 250W MH
4x 96W
8x Dual Bluemoon LED (Not real worried about these little guys)

I'd have the actinics come on first, followed by one halide (the center one) and then the other two halides. Lights should go off in the reverse order. Pick light duration based on what your corals like.
