lighting help

I have moved the contents of my 20 gal (24x 12) to a 33 gal. (36x 12) to get more clearance around the sides and the fact that the tank stand and hood which I already had fits the space in my den better. I positioned my 2x65w pc Aqualight 1 -10000k and one actinic lamp under the hood. In addition to this I have added a 20w NO Marineglo flourescent.

I would like to improve the lighting without spending a whole lot of money.

Do I gain anything by switching the actinic for another 1000K or a 50/50?

I have considered taking the Aqualight apart and using the lamps ballasts and endcaps in the hood and mounting a 150w HQI but I am worried about heat issues.

The dimensions of the hood inside are 36.5x12.5x6.5

Took me a long time, but trusting in people that know what they are talking about; has made me turn to T5 lighting. Low equipment and energy cost, and most flexibility in what you can keep in the tank.
Look into it T5!

switching out the actinic will increase the light getting into the tank.

MH's will increase the heat significantly. so will upgrading the lighting period. more watts still translates to more heat. the MH's just show it more since all of the heat is conentrated in one area.
