lighting cycle help!!!


I just got a 24 light system and a reefkeeper2 what times should i put my light on for! the moon led, pc and mh? i have lots of coral! i just want to know where to start! i have a 55g and polys and mushrooms some others!

It probably depends on what type of lighting you are replacing. If you didn't have mh before, you want to start out short and gradually add more light. Start at around 4 hours of mh and gradually increase (weekly) to around 6 or 7. Most people put the actinics on about an hour before the mh's and turn them off about an hour after the mh's go off.

i agree with scoop..once everything is acclimated my schedule would be something like actinics on 10 hours per day and mh's for 8..doin what scoop suggested an hour before and after..-drew

Ish... I run my MH for 4.5 hours. The corals tell me I don't need them on any longer than that I run the supplemental VHOs for about 8.5. I quit running my moon lights except when I want to see at night (1-2 nights a month) as they were doing nothing but giving me algae growth directly under the LEDs.
