is this a good ballasts for the buck for 2-400w mh's?


was thinking about ordering this for 2-400 watt mh's..is this a good brand?price?..its magnetic..is that good? i thought all ballasts were magnetic..what else are they other then magnetic and why is magnetic better?

Ballasts are typically either magnetic or electronic. The Ice Cap ballasts are electronic, which provide lower operating temps, less energy use, higher light output, and supposedly longer bulb life. Like Vinnie said, Blue Waves are good.

I don't agree with one thing here. The one drawback to electronic ballasts is they put out less light than magnetic ballasts not more. A standard M59 magnetic ballast will drive the bulbs harder and produce more PAR, however they also draw more current and use more electricity.

At a quick glance they don't have the same bulbs tested for the puls start M135 ballast like you posted but they seem similar to the elctroin Icecap ballast.
