How much light for 72g LPS tank?

Would a 4 bulb x 54w 48" fixture be a good amount of light to keep LPS corals? I'm talking about not needing to stack my live rock so they can be 2" under the light. I know 6 or 8 x 54w would be better. The tank is 48" x 18" x 22". I'm looking to start a mixed reef and need a nice t5 light fixture. Trying to keep power consumption to a minimal & reasonable level.

Thank you

that really is a bit low on lighting power for that tank. you could prolly keep some softies, but i do not think there is enough light for the LPS.

I have a Tek 4 bulb fixture over a 72, and I have sps, lps, zoas, softies. They are all growing like crazy. Most sps are 10" - 12" under the lights.

I'm w/ Ikaria on this one, the proper T5 fixture will be more than enough light. Mine is a TEK 4x54 on a 55....If I'm not mistaken isn't a 72g a Bowfront that has a very similar footprint to a 55g except the bow in the front?

I've got Plenty of SPS including acros growing just fine under these lights and the colors are great.

My LPS actually don't like it very close to the top under them anyways...I had to drop them down low close to the bottom.

Get a good fixture like a Tek or Aquactinics, or a quality retro like an Icecap set up w/ individual reflectors, and you will be able to keep ALL corals and clams.
