Help, my lights keep turning off

hi, i have a custom canopy with a icecap 660 ballast running 4 VHO's. ive had this setup for about 3 years now. just got new bulbs about 3 months ago. the other day my lights came on just like they always do at 10 o'clock then turned right back off. i removed from timer and power strip, thought one might be bad and plugged them in to the wall, same thing. checked the fuse on top of ballast, looks good. wondered if my ballast is bad or maybe something else. it is not acting like a short b/c my power strip did not kick off. any suggestions would be appreciated.

Welcome to TRT
Two things you can try, first turn the bulbs a little bit in there sockets sometimes they dont make good enough contact. Second if you have your old bulbs you can change out one at a time it may be you have a bad bulb.

That is a fairly common symptom of a icecap 660 ballast going out. Get a hold of icecap and they will fix it for $60 i think.

I had the same thing happen to me a month ago and in researching it that is what i found out. : ) I posted the problem on RC and instantly 6 people chimed in with the same thing that had happened to them.

Before you throw your ballest out, check the connections for salt build up. Salt is conductive dry. How hot does the ballest run? If you cant touch it for very long its a sing of overheating, and it could be tripping the temp sensor most ballst have. Get a volt meeter and test them, usal voltage is about 110, 220, 440 diffrent ballast produce diffrent voltage. Also does the bulbs glow nere the connection? Also weres the ballast located?
