Converting from pc to ????
I have an AGA 29 gal. which is 18" tall and currently have 65 watt pc lighting which is not enough. I have a hammer, green bubble anemone(15" in dia.), some zoos and a kenya tree ( approx. 10" tall) I would like to know if a T-5 HO set up or a 175 mh fixture would do the trick.

Less chance with a heat issue with the T-5 set up.Like 6 tubes.

Sure, they both would. What are you hoping to accomplish, how much space do you have, do you like the idea of having shimmer to the tank, and how big a deal is heat? Lots of questions for making the choice!

I've never had shimmer, so that would be cool. Heat is never an issue as I have to run my heater everyday to maintain proper temp. I would like my coral and such to live as opposed to the stretched out, I need more light stance they've taken over the past few weeks.

well for a 29, either light setup will work. About the only difference would be bulb life, where MH last 6-9 months, T-5 would have probably 15-21 months of functional life. Sounds like it's just up to your preference, and how much the two different setups would cost.

You could easily do 4 t-5's on your 29, so take that into account when figuring costs. I am not real sure there is room for 6.

I agree with Amy, I think 4 T5HO will be plenty for such a shallow tank. You could always add more if you needed to (doubt you will though). I really like T5's for smaller tanks because of the heat issue and the longevity of the bulbs as Chris stated. Either way, you won't be disappointed.

Well, I went with the T-5 setup from Current. 4 T-5's with the dual timers. Really nice set up. The lights have been on for 1 day and everything is really starting to wake up. Even the fish are out and about. I'll post pics in a few days. It's amazing how dirty your tank can look with good lighting. The water parameters were always good but it still looks like it needs another cleaning. Thanks for everyones help. Cheers!

Congratulations and please post pics when you get a chance. I am wanting to upgrade the lighting on my 40 gallon FOWLR, to possibly put some soft corals in it and am wanting to see what the T5 fixture looks like over the tank.

That is the worst. I have to clean my glass at least a couple times a week. Glad you're pleased with the new lights, though!
