Canopy with Pendants

Well i was going to go all T5 but the more i look at it i cant leave the shimmer lines. So my canopy isn't tall enough for halides. What to do? well i think im going to take the top off the canopy and put my actinic T5's in the the canopy and hang my pendants from the ceiling. The reason for leaving canopy is to keep light from spilling out and to have somewhere to put fans and i just like the look of it. So what im wondering is has anyone done this and if so do you have pics? I would go with a complete fixture but i already have the T5 actinics and i want to use icecap ballast for my halides so give me your input and let me know what you think.

Thanks,
Nathan

I think it sounds like a pretty good idea. It will give you the halide shimmer you are looking for, cut down on light spilling over the sides of the tank, and you still have the benefit of a canopy to try to stop any jumpers.

Let us know how it works for you.

That is the way that I had my old 125 gallon planted tank set up (minus the t5s). But I took the top off the canopy and then hung the pendents from the ceiling. It looked OK and did fine.
