40g hexagon, 280W or 380W Aqualight Pro?

For a 40g hexagon should I go wit the 280W, (150W HQI + 2x65W CF) Aqualight Pro or the 380W, (250W HQI + 2x65W CF) Aqualight Pro?

In tank:
Tangs, Percs, 2 BTA, Mushrooms, Zoos, Xenia, 2 SPS, Open Brain, Several Polyp covered rocks.

Right now I have a 150W Aqualight Advanced Series HQI Fixture that I would like to replace and sale. I don't think it is enough light.

Being a hex it is like a rectangle with two triangles on both sides. The main body rectange is 20 x 16 x 24 and the two triangles are 4 x 16 x 24. You can add the two triangles together and its like a 24 x 16 x 24 rectangle tank.

Does that make sence?

Thanks.

are you sure the total dimensions are not 28X16X24 instead of the listed 24X16X24? adding the second triangle to the other side of the tank.

anyway. i would not worry about putting 2 MH bulbs over this tank. 1 250w MH with some actinic supplimentation would be fine. a 250w MH covers a 24X24 area. those extra 4 inches would be ok. may be a bit dark at the very top of the water on the edges but you will prolly not have anything growing up there anyway.

Both triangles are 4" tall and 16" long. If you cut them in half in the middle you have two right triangles 4" tall and 8" long. Attaching the two long sides of the triangle and it makes a 4" x 8" rectangle. The two rectangles added together make a 4" x 16" rectangle to add to the larger 20" x 16" rectangle to total a 24" x 16". I think that is right??? Sorry its been several years since geometery and so I've lost it.

I think I like the Coralife Aqualight Pro w/250w MH longest it doesn't hurt anything. I'm guessing the 24" should be the length to go with?

Also any advice on using the mounting legs on the angled edges?

could you hang it from the ceiling? i am not a big fan of little plastic legs when it comes to that much electricity over SW.
