29 Gallon lighting question

Hey guys, I'm shutting down my 120 for the time being wanting to setup my 29 gallon with some of the livestock but I realized I don't have a light for it hahahaha... So I'm looking for a new light fixture suggestions? I'm budget sensitive so looking to purchase perhaps something from aquatraders to get me through the year at least.

Measurements of tank: 18T X 12D X 30L

Objectives: Softies, LPS and potentially some SPS

I figure 130 watts of PC will suffice for this anyone have suggestions or remarks? I was also thinking possibly picking up a SunPod instead but man are they pricey 309.00USD plus shipping and handling.

If you guys know of any great deals on retrofits please make suggestions Thanks

130w may be a bit low in lighting for a tank that is 18" tall, or is the tank 12" tall? if the tank is 12" tall then 130w of light should be fine. a lot of light energy is used up in that 6" of depth.

for 300 you can pick up a retro fit t5 kit from reefgeek.com
i have that over my 29 and it is plenty of light for sps. you will need to build a canopy for it, but plywood and paint is cheep For what mine looks like you can go here and read up if you like...

My hood is a bit taller because I am keeping zoas and seahorses for now, but wanted lights that could keep sps if I decided not to keep horses....

hood and lights starts here on pg 11

Hey guys there is this kit
https://diyreef.authsecure.com/shop/...4ba831f3ec1ccd

or there is this kit
https://diyreef.authsecure.com/shop/...4ba831f3ec1ccd

Both are 4 bulb configuration if you could confirm for me please amy that I need for or two bulb in my configuration. I'm assuming 4 because that's the only kits I see around 300.

Thanks all if you could leave some feedback as to which your preference would be please let me know. Thanks

I had a 29gal setup for several years.

I used a retrofit MH setup from hellolights...
http://www.hellolights.com/index.asp...ROD&ProdID=171

I then upgraded to a 90gal and decided on T5s.

I like both lighting setups though they are considerably different. The T5 bulbs are cheaper, they last longer, and they run much cooler. The MH though penetrates better and I would suggest the MH if you are going to have any SPS. Otherwise I would go with the T5s.

what about clams under that Amy? I got a t5 4x24 watt HO setup for the tank from Reefgeek and it's individual reflectors and all they currently are in a canopy making them sit about 3 inches above the water.

Too late loverotties I got the t5 stuff and am keeping easy to medium light demanding corals okay so far. I will delve into the more expensive stuff later I really want a clam though not sure we'll see how it goes hahaha.... I just didn't want to deal with heat issues on the tank at all as I had that problem with the 800 watts of halide I had over my 120g

Dont underestimate the power of the T5's with individual reflectors. In my AGA 90g tank, my SPS that are acclimating at the bottom of the tank are slowly growing and things are happy with only 4 x t5's with IceCap Ballast... A sidenote, I've also burnt a few frags because I moved it up too quickly thinking the T5's were not as strong as MH since they were under MH's 30 mins before...

Dont want to argue... T5's will be plenty in your tank!
