250w or 400w
I have the All Glass 150 that is 72 x 18x 29. The 29 is from the bottom of the tank to the top. If I measure from the top of the sand to the water line , it is about 25". I have the Lumen Bright reflectors, three of them that sit about 15" above the water line. That would make from lights to sand about 40". I am running 250w bulbs. Should I be running 400w to reach the sand bed better? My bulbs are 250w 12K Coralvue Reeflux.
Thanks,
David

I think you have enough light.
Keep higher light lovers higher in the tank.

I think you have plenty of light I had 400s on my 90s and decided to go with 250s for my 225. I had a lot of issues with acclimating new additions to the intensity of the 400s. SPS will do very well under 250s on your tank. If your having issues with coloration or growth of your stonies I would look at PO4 as the culprit.

Are your corals happy now? If so dont change anything.
What has worked well for me are 400's. I have seen better color over 175w and 250w.

The lumen brights are far more efficient a reflector than the old spider reflectors and many of the modern reflectors like those from icecap, pfo and the like. 250's are more than adequate for your system. In all actuality you are probably getting the same amount of par out of the lumen brights as other less efficient reflectors.
Here is an article on the lumen brights

Hey Pel and Fat, The corals are doing great and I agree with Fat on the Lumen Brights. New technology and all that stuff. I just got a Orange Fungia. I put it in the sand and I am going to keep an eye on it that it is getting enough light. I had it on a rock but then all the posts said not to do that.

NP.. technology advancements are what keep this hobby fun, cost effective and interesting. You have to know when and where to spend money and where you can save. Any time I can save energy use I try, even if it requires spending a little extra on the equipment.
