Wow, that was scary!
Hey everyone, I'm back (I've been chatting with some fellow teen reefers at RC for the last few weeks) but you guys are soo much more fun! The 180g is getting set up this weekend (I'll make a thread and have tons of pics! )
Anyway, Tonight, as I was driving back from a horse competition (I'm only ranked 11th internationally right now, need to bring that up ) I saw a car that was smoking and the glass was shattered, front was smashed like a can, and the top was crunched in. Nobody was there. I called 911 and waited watching the guy (they told me not to touch him) It was scary, even though I've taken an Emergency First Response course. He was laying across the passenger seat with his head out of sight, it was jammed between the passenger door and the passenger seat. I couldn't get a response from talking to him. 8 minutes latter a firetruck arrives, they get him out, barely responding and can't move any limbs. 5 minutes latter there were 4 firetrucks, 3 ambulances, and 2 cop cars. They called for an air evac. 20 minutes latter a rescue helicopter sets down in a field next to us (that was impressive). They take him to it in a stretcher and take off. It was very frightening and I hope he is all right, one of the EMS said that the guy should make it, but he wasn't very responsive. I just wanted to tell you guys what happened, thanks for letting me share it with someone.

Nothing like a car wreck to make you stop and think.
One of my wife's kid, she teaches high school, just got to come home today after four weeks in the hospital. The car he was in hit a tree and even with a seatbelt on his face hit the dash.

Wow Jesspaul, sorry to hear that. Hey Cath, it was on one of the rural backroads about 100ft from our driveway. That's the third person in a year that has had to be evaced out of there on that corner. It's not that bad of a corner either, really strange. But on our road you have to go about 35-40, he was probably going 65.

Most of the bad wrecks I've seen lately involve getting the wheels on the right hand side off the road slightly then the driver jerks the wheel to the left...

Yep, exactly what happened. He got the tires off (saw the tracks) jerked to the left, we only saw 2 tire skid marks going back to the left, so he was on his right 2 tires, went up a really steep bank, rolled backwards and to the right off the bank back onto the road, destroyed the right+top+front of the car, rolled and landed right side up.

Thankful you were there to call it in. Do you have any means of checking in on the guy to see how he is doing?

hope he;s doing okay
lucky you went by
One of my friend's drove his car off the road into a ten foot ditch and landed in 2 feet of water.
His car was destroyed but he walked away without a scratch. Either he's really lucky or like Bruce Willis in untouchable

Hey everyone, nice to see you all! Hey Casey, nice pink coral! I'm setting up a 180sps you'll be happy? Are you drinking a Diet coke right now?
I'm really sad. I got my hardcopy liscense today with a bunch of other teens (had to appear in court) I thought i recognized the State Trooper talking to us, i realized he one of the troopers at the crash yesterday. He actually brought up the crash that happened and said that the guy was paralyzed from the neck down. I stayed afterward to talk with him to make sure it was the same guy. It was, as of last night he was paralyzed, the trooper wasn't sure if he made it through the night, said it was doubtfull. If only he had been wearing his seatbelt... I wish I had been able to help him, I couldn't stand sitting there trying to talk to him for 10 minutes till the ambulance got there and I watched the entire scene. It's horrible.

*I will not drool on Casey's tank* *I will not* *Not going to* Ok, i broke...
I can't get over the guy, I wish I could have done something different, but i know there wasn't... The scary thing is the first firetruck to arrive passed the Chief of police going the other way on the same road 5 minutes after the accident happened, so it must have happened less than 3 minutes before I got there. If I hadn't stopped to get a soda I could have been there when he came barreling around the turn, then I wouldn't be here typing to you all...

Thanks Casey, I drove home today going about 20mph. I don't think many of the teens at the hearing really "got it" today, but I'm definitly a believer. Life is too precious to be in a hurry on the road.
