Windows XP Question
I have kinda a stupid question for anyone out there thats good on computers. ( I thought i was ok, but this is stumping me bad). I walked into the bedroom the other day to see my 3 year old little girl banging on the keyboard of my computer with her sippy cup. Well, ever since then all my icons have a white background that they never had before. I want NO background and i've been all through the display settings and cant figure it out. Any ideas??

Tried it and its still there. This is annoying. Im downloading windowFX now. Its supposed to be able to fix it. The thing that gets me is it never had the background before and i didnt have a program to fix it. Its hard to tell what the sippy cup hacker did to it... If you look closely at my avatar you can see the innocence in her eyes.... (yeah right)

Is your desktop picture a BMP or a JPG?

When the text under the icons on your desktop are not transparent, there are two things to check. First open System from the Control Panel, select the Advanced tab, and press the Settings button under the Performance header. Make sure that on the Visual Effects tab, the option Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop is selected. Also make sure that Smooth edges of screen fonts is checked, it is also needed.
If this still doesn't do the trick, right-click the desktop, point to Arrange Icons By and make sure that Lock Web Items on Desktop is un-checked. Chances are it is this one. It can be easily done with a few mouse clicks.
