I put it on my system a few months ago (it's been around the net in final form for a while) and I wasn't that into it. The classic games are totally redone with fancy graphics. Internet Explorer, as usual, is so bad that I can't stand to use it and again installed firefox. The start menu still is a mess. Some of the wallpapers are nice, though. Basically, it's a "poor man's" OS X, except it costs alot more and doesn't work as smoothly

I've used the beta versions. I was really thinking about getting it (64bit ultimate of course) yesterday, but I cant see a big enough reason to do so; there are no advantages to upgrading from XP x64 for me at the moment (except pretty colors and animated menus).

I have seen the basic version list at $150

I love how they want me to pay thru the nose for the OS because I have a built puter but $299 gets you an entry level box with the same OS installed

I'm sure you can if your new PC came with an installation CD.

Cool I did get a bunch of disks so I would just need to reinstall XP if I don't like Vista

Maybe I'll try it

CompUSA guarantees that you'll be happy with Vista, or they will reinstall your previous OS, and refund your purchase price.

I installed Release Candidate 1 (RC1), and while Vista is pretty, I prefer XP Pro. I'll wait until I buy my next computer to get Vista. By then maybe they will have all the bugs out.

That's funny...you should check the known bugs for XP. I assume you want to wait until after a few big patches or a service pack gets put out for the Vista.
