Gosh, ya'll are lucky. My husband thinks it's a waste of time and money. He isn't at all into it and cannot understand why I want a nano. He frustrated me beyond belief. Funniest thing is....since September there have been four new fish added, two quiet large, and the poor old boy hasn't even noticed!!!!
In my next life, I'm coming back as a florida resident living on the beach with a Jimmy B.

Tony, as frustrating as humanity is , I prefer it and its troubles to anything else I have seen so far

wait a sec... this was NOT an "I hate life, I want to die" response... I was just merely stating that it would be interesting to try something else (not that a consciousness of life as a human would really get me a step ahead as a bird, or a fish).
Life struggled is a life lived, I have no regrets. (well... none that are really that big)
btw, when I did have a "mate" she did not aprove, yet she wanted a tank of her own and never stopped looking at them.

Mine loves the hobby. I have a 30 gallon set up right now and have a 90 gallon that is sitting around empty. He keeps pushing me to set that one up instead. I'd rather have a horse and a bigger tank would take away horse time. I try to deter him by explaining how much halides are and what they cost and larger pumps and electricity cost etc etc etc and he keeps telling me to get a bigger tank....
*sigh*

Genie started me in this hobby when she saw a neighbor with a 10 gallon FW. I'd come home from work and we'd sit in front of that little tank like it was a tv, except we had to add our own sound, talking about what we'd done that day.
She was so scared of swimming, but when she started seeing fish similar to what's in our tank her courage grew until now she's getting ready to get her dive license! We had a 70 gallon with just rock and some polyps, leftovers from moving to a bigger tank. It was in her study room, she decided to rearrange it and put a "Dori" and "copperband" the two fish we don't have that she talks so much about. Her aquascaping skills are much better than mine, she has her two fish and I do the water changes and cleaning. Still, for all the interest we share, I'm much more into the gadgets and DIY, and she sometimes gets jealous of the time I spend on it, so I'm trying my best to keep it balanced. That meant cleaning out the skimmer at 4:30 this morning so when we sat and drank coffee, I didn't have to fret about needing to do that before I went to work!

too funny! I do the same exact thing! Clean the skimmer in the morning, while waiting for the coffee!
