Speaking of which my wife is going to get a Bersa .380 for her concealed carry class.
They can't keep consumable widgets in stock here locally especially if they are about 9mm round.

Speaking of which you could have hung your Xmas lights while you were up there. October is right around the corner.

Good evening and happy weekend all!
Worked in the yard part of today. I had a spot that would not grow grass at the new house. You could tell the was a little concrete under the dirt on part of it. I decided it might be a good idea to get it out of there. Little did I know was that the concrete was about 2" under the soil, 3' wide by 5' long and as thick as 4". Under that was close to 1' of gravel. It took close to 400 lbs of topsoil to fill the hole!
After getting that dug out, filled and seeded, we went to see the new Transformer movie. A couple of the F-16s I use to work on in NM were in the movie.

Last I checked, teen-aged boys didn't need any help keeping santa away.

I love it, Perry. Looks like Whiskey's a real team member.
KIA good that you found the culprit on the basement flood.

As Butch said, most teen-aged boys are hormones with feet.

Did well enough to qualify for my HG permit. I can't cut the center every time like I used to but not bad for shaky old hands.

The Bersa is a nice pistol. Someone was looking at a nickel one at the store at the range today. I just read this guy's review. He's usually pretty right. http://www.gunblast.com/Bersa_Thunder380.htm You're right about the shortage of 9mm widgets, and almost every other size. Lots of demand and not enough supply.
Just got in from watching Chance race motocross. The boy did good tonight.

Thanks for the link Dick. I found a couple of other reviews and the safety features are really nice. She is getting pro instruction and joining an organization that supports that sort of hobby.
Hope everyone has a nice evening. We are going to get up early and go check out all the horses and do a little riding. Cynthia is going to have to take a picture of my trail of horses and ponies. They have me marked as the guy with the apple treats or bag of carrots and follow like they are behind the pied piper.
Too bad there is a lot more to learn besides how to feed them carrots.

Kewl that she is getting professional training, an absolute must if you make the decision , The Bersa is a nice tool, I personally have serious reservations about the .380 cal tho, then again I am not amoured of the 9mm, I like my little 45 and big 357, but they are not for everyone, If I could buy another I would really look at the Beretta cougar in .40 SW if it's still out there, but having said that, if she can handle the .380 well and you can feed it enough that she is confident on hitting the target, go for it

9 mm is a good low recoil round that has a lot lower "flinch factor" than a .357. God forbid someone ever have to use it in a defense situation being comfortable with the gun is paramount. Usually in a panic situation the more shots someone takes the higher they shoot, but that distance is shortened with a lower recoil weapon.

Did I ever tell you about the time Brasky went hunting? Well anyway, Brasky decides he's gonna hunt down all four members of the Banana Splits. He stalks and kills every one of them with a machete. They all beg for their lives, except Fleagul.

Morning everyone. Gotta wash my car then take Cynthia out to the barn.
We have softball tonight and hopefully the organizers idiot brother in law won't wreck this game like last week. Gotta love our volleyball team with it's great attitudes and sportsmanship.
Enjoy your Sunday folks!

Morning everyone. Yesterday was a long day... up at 5am for a run, finished the routing on the new tank I built, pressure washed the entire driveway (I'm still pruney), and then went out for the evening. Today we're going to the water park in galveston. I plan on laying in the lazy river all day.

Good Morning, everyone!
Little worn out today after a day at the range and an evening at the motocross track in 90+ heat.
For a good time, see: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A4QK11gv11s

Like Doug said, correct training is key to becoming proficient. I do think Cynthia is strong enough to handle something bigger than a .380 and there's lots of compact 9mm's, or even .40's and .45's out there. Training with a lower powered caliber to start is good, then move up to whatever she's comfortable with. You can get conversion kits for several big-bore autos to shoot .22 for cheap, low recoil practice. Sig Sauer even has conversions for switching center fire calibers in some models, like the P226. Lots of options out there.
Carrots & Apples are the first step toward rider-horse bonding.

Consensus among the pros that carry for a living is 'Bigger is better' but for personal protection, even a little .22 is better than nothing.

the Flinch Factor is a big deal with many folks. A well-placed .380 in JHP is preferred over a .45 shot in the floor. Always take two first shots anyway. Double-Tap is the way to go, then more if needed. Way back when I was 'on the job', I carried a .357 with .380 backup.
Guns aren't for everyone and among those who enjoy target shooting or carry for personal protection, there are as many opinions as there are models and calibers. Main thing is to choose what you are comfortable with and become proficient with it.
***Disclaimer*** My opinions are just my opinions.
