DUCT tape
DUCK tape
In the theatre industry we use Gaff tape. IT is structurally differnt than ducT tape. DucT tape is plastic backed, wtih fibers between the adhesive and the backing. Gaff tape is cloth backed with adhesive. You can rip gaff tape with your hands. both across the strip, and lengthwise.
Duct tape actually has a structural rating, and gaff tape does not.
Gaff tape is about $15 a roll, where duct tape is about $5.
I have always known 100 MPH tape as the mil-spec It-aint-ne'er-commin-offa-thar tape.

WE certainly have milked this thread far more than it's worth, but it's been a fun ride.
OK when I'm here in SC, I'll call it Duck tape (should I go to the trouble to say "Duck Brand TapeŽ"??
BUT when I go out to the 3 August party in Seattle, I will try my best to say Duct tape.
How's that guys?

Duct tape is the real name o' the stuff, Duck tape is for the non- professionals, trust me , there IS a difference.. in the racing world , it's called "200MPH" tape
(can't believe i used my 900th post on THIS!)
