Hi there,
Love Dells! the last 6 we have purchased for home and business are from the Dell Outlet. They are full warranty, usually have been built for someone else who either changed their mind or returned. They are gone through completely and there is a substansial savings. I spend some time looking through whats available there. You can find their top of the line systems there are well.

Dell systems are what we use at work and are quite good. Everything I use at home is hand built. Dell seems to have good customer service as well. When a PC breaks down at work, I usually have the parts to fix it the next day. We have a huge contract with them, so that may have something to do with their response time, but if they are as good with their regular customers you won't go wrong with Dell.
Depending on the age of your current computer, even the lower end models that Dell makes should meet your needs. They come with fairly large harddrives, 2+ ghz processors and a decent amount of RAM. Make sure you get at least 512 MB of RAM. They will also most likely come with a CD burner so your wife can burn her downloads to CD if Harddrive space becomes an issue.

I like the Dells also ,but when you get the system it's behind a couple months on the drivers and bio's.My last system it locked up all the time for the first week until a went to the Dell site and caught up on all the driver updates.Go to their forum and search around the posts, avoid the systems that have the most complaints. And from what I read about my system they described the problems I was having to the tee.My bio's were updated 11times , and had 5 video driver updates also. But it rocks now a year later. The good side is it's a good forum and they keep up on the fixes they run across.

i like to build my own systems. but, that can be a bit pricey.
when i had the computer store open, we built custom systems for our customers, but we had dells on our desks
i've always liked dell. and their customer service has been unmatched for a number of years.
oddly enough when i closed the computer store and went to work for IBM, we were installing IBM pc's on all the desks at Libbey-Owens-Ford around the country, but WE carried dell laptops, and had dells in our office go figure
as a side note to dell. i now have a gateway at home. my moms last 4 have been gateway. and my boss has been buying e-machines recently.. both seem equally as good, but ,dont come with that great dell support.
Dude, yer gettin a dell!!

fyi johnny: memory= ram.. helps the pc run faster... hard drive=storage
nowadays you can get a 40+gig hard drive for pennies. i just bought my sister an 80gig drive for like 125 or something.
and for a semi current machine, i'd recommend at least 128mb ram. and at least a 2gig processor.

It will have an 80 gig hard drive and 512 for RAM and it is a 2.20 Gig computer!

good deal johnny!!
now yer almost caught up with me
i've got 1024 ram, and two 80 gig drives my processor is little behind though, its only a 2.1g but i had to get that, the 2.2 have some known problems with a specific video editing program i use
now just because your getting a dell, does not give you permission to get caught with dope and wind up in jail

but I did upgrade the memory to 128m and added a larger hard drive for all the aquarium pics.
I,ll wait for one of my sons to get tired of their 6,000,000 giga thingy computers and need to upgrade.
