What is your record for working hours in a single shift?
As I sit here, working now for 16 hours straight I got to wondering what other people's record is for hours worked in a single shift.
My record was 20 hours, I then went to the parking lot, slept in my car for 4 hours and went back to work.
What is your record?

What kinda work are you doing?
I think the most I've worked in a day was around 16-17. Probably no more than that from what I can remember. I was working at Toyota and I only had a holiday weekend to rip out an old robot and get a new one installed, wired and programmed. I did a solid 2 weeks of 16 hour days when we shut down the old truck line and switched over to the new '03 Tacoma line. We had to rip out old equipment, rip up concrete, excavate, pour new concrete and have all the new robots installed and working in 2 weeks. Never seen anything like it.

We just need to hear from some doctor who's done his residency and it will probably put us all to shame.

21 during the Blizzard of '78. I had to stay in the factory and keep the propane heaters running (roof had collapsed) until they could dig me out(the driveway). A week later I get a letter stating that, since I worked during a State of Emergency, I had no medical coverage for that period. Now THAT'S gratitude for ya!

16 hrs, long long ago. As a matter of fact it was the last day I ever worked for a company. My son was three months old and another manager had been in an accident so I had to cover both stores. My district manager was supposed to have someone come in but no one did. The next morning I was called and asked to go open the other store again and someone would be in to relieve me(this after already working 70 hours and being salary I only got paid for working 50 no chinese overtime and no regular overtime for sure) Well again no one showed so I was there from 7 am to 10 pm. When I finally got home I was exhausted had a 2 1/2 yr old and 3 month so my hubby was drained as well. Next morning I got out of the shower. My husband said the distict guy called again and wanted me there at 7 again. I broke down right then and there. What I heard next I couldn't believe: My husband told the guy "Too bad because she just quit!"

I don't know if you'd call it work but I spent 3 hours driving, 12 hours flying and then probably another 8 hours before I actually got into bed while traveling to Japan for work. Almost a 24hr day.

Ok the first doctors response.
During the neuro icu rotation, we would do 24 on, and 24 off. But it was more like 28 on, 20 off, for a month at a time, not much sleep while on.
The other rotations would be something along the lines of 36, 12, 12, 36, 12, 12. We would get some sleep during the 36 on. They have on call rooms in the hospital, with a bed and a phone. Some nights you would get sleep, sometimes not much.
I could have sworn I worked 200 hours one week, but since there are only 168 hours in the week, I guess that was just my brain being fogged from lack of sleep.
But I must have had at least one 150 hour work week in there.
