Wow! this is a great thread!
But I do have a hard time with my favorites. I'll have to think on it more.
I did like Jean de Florette and Magnon of the Spring. Great musical score.
Christmas Story is just about the funniest!
I think Mommie Dearest is the worst film I've seen.
oh, btw...I help lead a film discussion group at our library. Take a look at the link and click on Film Fanatics for our schedule this year. BTW...they think my name is Cathy, not cath We have lively discussions!

Ahhhh, that would be 1979's Breaking Away. That and the original Star Wars trilogy (episodes 4-6)
Now go to the video store and rent Breaking Away, I know half of you have never heard of it!

I really love comedy movies!! Here are some of my favs...
-Monty Pythons 'Holy Grail'
-Princess Bride
-Caddyshack
-Coming to America
Some of my non-comedy favs...
-Just about any Robin Williams flick(which most have comical scenes too)
-Silence of the Lambs
-Hannibal (how about that brain scene)
-Jeepers Creepers - this movie is trippy. it has a crappy ending but the first hour+ is great!
Tom Hanks made a movie where he had terminal cancer and his wife was pregnant. He was making a video for his kid. Anybody remember the name of that movie? I cried my eyes out.
Great thread!

Big Dave, I think the movie you are thinking about is called "My Life" and starred Michael Keaten, not Tom Hanks. I know Keaten has a film where he is making a video for his kid. That sounds like it.

The worst movie I ever saw was "Mondo Video" made by that Mike-some-body-or-other who used to do small clips on SNL way back when.
Some of my faves:
A Fish Called Wanda
Life of Brian
Princess Bride
The Cowboys
The Cheyenne Social Club
Alien (Good date movie..I didn't let guy of the guy's arm for almost the entire movie )
Blade Runner
5th Element
Independance Day
Silence of The Lambs
Stigmata
