I'm the same way,.. very much the same way. The other problem for me is that my hearing is really bad - I have a tough time separating out sounds, so I look at people's lips when they talk.
Phones don't have lips.

As for electronics, people end up homeless for a varity of reasons, but one thing that is common is a lack of ability to maintian healthy relationships and healthy interaction with people. When we allow people to have their iPod, they will listen to music instead of talk with their peers. if they have a dvd player they will go to their room and watch a movie by their self rather than with our community.
It is our goal to give people time to better their life and focus on changes that need to be made in themselves.....electronics are distractions. And ...... if we make it too comfortable to be here, they drag their feet and don't have a reason to leave, taking away electronics is an incentive to leave.

EXACT same reasons that we take that stuff away at camp! We still have music and stuff, but it is not 24/7 - just so people WILL go into their heads and talk with other people as Whiskey is about to point out....

but unlike you most people can't stay in their own heads for very long

Actually, I think most people live most of their lives in there.

why do you need to go in early to talk on the phone
can't you just do that from your house?
