Absolutely. What I want to do is simply make a template of my tank using a cardboard box and experiment with different formations. That way I am not fooling around in the tank and I can keep the rock dry. When I get happy with the formation, glue it together as three pieces. The left side wall, the right side wall, and the roof to the cave. Leave myself about an inch all the way around it to minimize contact with the tank itself. Then, if I really need to, I can simply remove the three "rocks" from the tank for whatever reason I may need. The only part I am not sure of yet is what the best way to handle the LR aspect of it. The base rock would eventually turn into LR (just no coloration) and I think that will be fine with me, I can watch it mature over time.

I nearly cried when I scratched my big tank. Good thing my gf already took my man card.

This one is only a 12G tank so it wouldn't be too bad if it did, but I want to try to avoid it if possible. That is what made me decide to glue the rocks together, to avoid a slide/shift that might scratch it.
