URGENT HURRY HELP !! : sNAKE bItE !!

my cat was bit by this snake what kind is it...i feel foolish asking this cuz ive delt with reptiles for almost 10 years, but idk what kind it is

i got him in a bottle, but i need help fast or the snake will die !!i dont wanna set him lose until ID'd.

is he deadly to my cat ?!?!!?

he dosent have cat eyes, so i dont think he is deadly, but hes got a rattlers design if you hold him in the light a certain way, wich ive never seen on a gardner snake.i couldnt get a good pic of it tho. my cat bit his tail off & i cant find it..maybe he ate it,

Put the snake in a sack made from cloth of some type (a old sheet, etc) and take both the snack and the cat to the vet and ask them!! Just do a "walk-in" at the vet's. They should help you immediately if you explain the situation.

Agreed. That's the best route.

Looks like a regular old Black Rat snake to me. It certainly doesn't look like any of the Rattlesnakes or Cottonmouths that I've come across. If it's been 40 minutes and your cat isn't showing any signs of distress I wouldn't worry about it.

Here's a great comparison shot.

I got bit by a gopher snake when I was a kid and they really went all out cleaning it and gave me a shot. It is still a bite with cooties. You might want to keep an eye on it.

Of course a cat licks it's own hindquarters too, so the treatment methodology could be different for a human.

I would still try to rinse the wound area with some peroxide or saline solutine.

Agree that it's a black rat snake, non-venomous. Just keep the wound clean, treat the bite with antiseptics, , and it should be fine.

One good trick with many venomous snakes is to look at the head. if they have puffy cheaks then they are usually venomous (cheeks = venom gland)

was this a wild snake?
I'm assuming yes, that case
I'm glad I don't need to worry too much about them around here
