Trevor's Graduation
Hello TRT Friends,
Here, finally, is one of Trevor's graduation photos, taken June 1st. The cords represent top 10% in his class of 425 students. He'll be attending Indiana University in the fall on an Army ROTC and IU Honors College scholarships, majoring in History, minoring in English (maybe) and German (most likely). Then -- OCS and a possible career in the military.

Congrats to Trevor, Shirley! Tell him he needs a reef tank in his dorm room.

Thanks to everyone! It would be Troy, our older son who got us hooked on reefing, who considered keeping a reef tank in his dorm room...
Trevor spoke with recruiters and officers of all 4 divisions, and Army was his choice. IF he had perfect eyesight, wasn't slightly red/green colorblind...he'd have gone Air Force and tried to get into the Academy. Flight has been his passion since he was a toddler. (mine, too, so I can share that vicariously through him) His best friend in high school is one of 2 Indiana candidates for the Air Force Academy in Colo. Springs, and he leaves tomorrow. The two boys have traced their ancestry back to common Scottish anscestors, and one of our anscestors was Alexander McDonald. He changed his sirname to Alexander. Trevor is an Alexander, his friend is a McDonald.
Here they are...
This was taken at Trevor's reception -- Matt's on the left, Trevor the right -- and they both have "the right stuff"! Matt was 5th in the class and is an Eagle Scout. Trevor was 15th and is a first degree black belt Tae Kwon Do, both speak German quite well, both target shoot together. And both are gentlemen.

i'll drink to that alice! my family is from Montreal, and is predominatly french. but in researching my family tree about two years ago, it was discovered that Thomson is not a french name. it's Scottish
from the clan MacTavish, when they had the problems with the english, the MacTavishes relocated, and changed the sirname to MacTamish. when they migrated to the US, they changed it to Tamison, then the people at ellis island (it's well documented that many could not read nor write very well, hence the subtle variances in spellings of sirnames) They erroneously wrote Thomson
but anyway, back to trevor i agree wit hDoug, all the military elbowing is in good fun, any way you choose, is not only great for your future, but it's also a great honor to serve your country.

...and we're so proud too, Shirley! You and your family bring pride to TRT.
You speak so well of your sons, and I can see why. Fine young men.
I can see it now..."Up in the air, Jr. Bird'sman..." hmmm...I think we've been there before
