I thought the movie was entertaining. My complaints are the story and action that was too fast to tell what was going on. Here you've got these 3 story tall robots fighting like they are Jacky Chan, couldn't even see the action really. There's some good comedy in it, some great special effects, HOT girls, but not a great story really. A lot of those parts where you're just thinking, why don't they just... etc. I could go either way, watch it in the theatre or just wait for DVD.

Mods - Any way to update the poll?? I guess I didn't think about people that will not be seeing it...

Otherwise, if we cannot update it, just vote "Naa...Boring" if you do not plan on seeing it.

Thanks.

I haven't seen it yet ... I plan to. But from what I 've heard from others that have seen it, Micheal Bay took some departures from the original Transformers.

Bumble-bee is in the movie, but apparently is not a VW nor a spy for the Autobots.
MegaTron is in the movie, but is a jet ... not a gun.
There are three Decepticons in the movie I have never heard of.
One Decepticon, Barraicade, is a police car. The only police car I remember was the Autobot Prowl.
I have heard two stories about Soundwave, one is he is not even in the movie; the other is he is in the movie but not in the capacity he was in the original series, he apparently does not transform into a tape recorder nor does he carry laserbeak, ravage, rumble, and frenzy with him.

Bumble-bee is in the movie, but apparently is not a VW nor a spy for the Autobots. Partially correct - he is a Camaro - he is a spy (but acts as more of a personal bodyguard)

MegaTron is in the movie, but is a cybertronian jet (whatever that is) ... not a gun. Correct - I heard Mr Bay did not want to have hugh size disparities between the robots and their vehicle/weapon "producer Don Murphy and the production team made it clear they did not want to feature mass/size shifting in transformation, due to concerns over realism".

There are three Decepticons in the movie I have never heard of.
1. Blackout - because of the issue above - an inherent part of Soundwave's tape deck alternate mode, there was some discussion over whether or not to change it, or to include the character in the film at all. Early leaked movie scripts proposed that his alternate mode would be a helicopter, but animatics shown at the 2005 Comic Con were poorly received. This led to a rethink, with the eventual helicopter character rechristened Blackout.
see #2 below...not sure of #3...maybe Devastator? He was a tank.
One Decepticon, Barraicade, is a police car. The only police car I remember was the Autobot Prowl. (can't remember what was in the cartoon)

I have heard two stories about Soundwave, one is he is not even in the movie; the other is he is in the movie but not in the capacity he was in the original series, he apparently does not transform into a tape recorder nor does he carry laserbeak, ravage, rumble, and frenzy with him.
2. Frenzy - 2006 script reviews named Soundwave as a spying boombox on Air Force One, able to transform into a small robot, but eventually, this character was amended to being Frenzy, with Don Murphy stating that Soundwave will be reserved for a future sequel, until they can "do him right."

This is from Wikipedia -
"Designs began in June 2005, with Hasbro heavily collaborating on the live action interpretations of their characters.[1] In keeping with Michael Bay's desire to make Transformers realistic, the robots were designed more intricately to look more three-dimensional,[34] as well as reflect their alien origins.[41] Morphing in transformations was restricted, unlike the cartoon or comic books, so every character stays the same size, which explains their choice of Earth forms.[5] Optimus Prime's original cab over truck form was rejected as it would make him only 23 feet tall, so Bay decided to use the Peterbilt, the largest truck available.[42] Bay also added flame artwork to make Prime distinctive, and gave him a mouth to emote more.[3] Don Murphy wanted to retain Bumblebee's Volkswagen Beetle form,[43] but Bay rejected it to avoid comparisons with Herbie the Love Bug,[44] and chose the Chevrolet Camaro instead, which he described as having a friendly quality.[5] The other Autobots also became GM-owned vehicles in a product placement deal that saved $3 million,[3] though Bay hoped they would have supplied a bigger car than the Pontiac Solstice for Jazz.
In contrast to Optimus' faithful design, Megatron's alternate mode was changed from a Walther P38 pistol to an alien jet to avoid morphing, while his face was made more hideous and menacing. The numerous animatic tests conducted also made Bay realize Starscream would require bird-like legs to perform his feats throughout the story.Bay admitted most of the Decepticons had their appearances chosen before their characterization as Hasbro needed to get started on the toys.Blackout was being considered as Soundwave, but Hasbro wanted to have a music player for the character. Don Murphy felt this role belittled Soundwave, and the writers concurred the character in the script barely resembled the original They renamed him Soundbyte, and finally Frenzy, one of Soundwave's minions. The official names were confirmed in August 2006,although Bay himself was not fully aware of these official names, and this led to Brawl being referred to as Devastator, his on-set name. During post-production, fans expressed concern over Megatron's head design, so a last-minute tweak was done to satisfy them."

Thanks, the transformers were my favorite toy(s) when I was growing up. I find it kinda funny how much I remembered about them after starting to type my response above. Was there any reason given as to why the decepticons that were put in the movie were chosen. As I recall the main ones were Megatron, Starscream, Skywarp, Thundercracker, and Soundwave.

Not really...but obviously Megatron and Starscream are there because they were the 2 main characters. I think the others were there because they were military (for the most part) and this movie actually has a military feel to it. They play a big part in the begining. Barricade, the police car is there because he gets into it with the humans...this is kind of the link with the humans.

Go see the darn movie...you'll love it. Not a better special effects movie out there...

I thought it was very entertaining Made me feel like I was 12 again. Didn't care about the size issues as I thought they worked the kinks out this time over the problems with the cartoon/toys in the 80s
