Tooth help

So i have this tooth that needs to be pulled but my dentist can't get it done until september... yes i said september. it is really starting to hurt and i was wondering if anyone can recommend an otc medicine that will help with the tooth pain? longer term cure is preferred. Orajel just doesn't cut it.

have you tried the maximum strength? Or anbesol (although I'm not sure if it's any stronger) Did you call your dentist and tell him/her that you're in constant distracting pain?? If not maybe try that..if they won't do anything I'd try another dentist.

I agree! I think almost 3 months is crazy to have to be in pain!! There has to be someone that wants your business more then that dentist.

You have an insurance provider. So what you have to do is get on the phone and call other dentist in your area and ask them if they carry your insurance provider.

I am sure there are more dentist in your town that will take your provider of dental insurance not just this guy.

So far those are 2 of the best ideas i've seen Vince and andy. my insurance will only allow you to use one provider and then your stuck with them until the next year (december) before you can change. I am going to call again tomorrow and see if there is anything else i can do. I may have to use some of that language my steel worker father taught me.

I agree with Tim!Also he could subcribe antibiotics and pain killers.Or you can go to the hospital to have it taken out.

since your insurance is convering it, tell the dentist your in pain, they usually take "emergency" cases sooner.

you should call your insurance and inform them your situation and ask them to prefer to another dentist associate with your insurance company. Mean while, you can try to mouth wash with warm salt water (not from SW tank please!) at least twice a day, also taking tylenol or advil also help. Try to avoid too sensitive food, like too hot, too cold. I hope you feel better.

Though, seriously, you should see if your dentist can set up a referral to another dentist who takes your insurance, you may have to jump through a few hoops with the insurance company, but if you can get the tooth out even a month sooner I'd think it'd be worth it.
