Holy shnikees!!!!! WTH happened??? Looks like a tree went over. Too many small waterings cause a surface root bundle and the tree got to tall huh?

What a tough break for those homeowners!

My daughter in Sebastian, FL, has several huge live oaks around her home and some whole trees and large limbs came down during the two hurricanes that hit there last year. Fortunately, none of them hit the house.

Hope your family and home escaped the damage.
