this could save a life

just something to think about. as some of you know, my mother in laws kiddneys failed 6 years ago. no relatives were a donor match. but i am. i got a pre-donation physical that checked EVERYTHING in my body. everything was perfect. last test was another ct scan with contrast of the kidneys so they could plan and map out the surgery. on aug 7 i got a call from Boston Medical Center, need to see me. well. they happened to catch the bottom lobe of my lung in the scan. its full of lumps. the next scan was of both lungs. both full of lumps. wont know if its cancer until they remove a lobe for a biopsy. going back on the 29th. anyway... two chest x-rays found NOTHING. if it wasn't for the ct scan, this could have developed until symptoms eventualy got my dr's attention, by then, survival rates for cancer drops quite a bit. i am a very healthy 37 yr old father of 5 kids. this scan may have saved my life. please, ask your dr to send you for a ct-scan. if he asks why, ask him why not? this still could be nothing, but the dr's in Boston are not taking any chances. we're hoping its something called "welders lung", just a bunch of iron and carbon deposits from breathing them in while welding(i do a lot of it). if its anything other than cancer, they will still let me donete a kidney for my mother in law, so either i'll save her life or she will have saved mine. no matter how invincible you may feel, please go for your yearly physicals, it just might save your life. much peace

I just went for my 1st physical in maybe 7 years
I went for Scuba certification in 99', my old doctor - full physical, tentanus updates etc
He retired, not quite another doctor like him - old fashioned
New doctor never asked about yearly physical, only went to him once for the flu. Just switched to a new doc, 1st thing he did was a physical
And said I need to have one very year

Most insurance companies won't pay for a procedure these days unless there is a reason

Good luck with your results
I work at Tufts New England Medical Center
Even that doesn't get me in a doctor's door as a patient

Frank, this happened to my dad a few months ago. Both of his lungs were full of lumps, it turns out, the were clots of blood that had traveled from his arms and legs. Have you had any pain in the lims or in the ribcage/ side area recently?
