... funny you should mention that...
A good friend of mine (Walter E., nameless beyond that to protect the innocent ) and I made a trip through lower SC in the late 70's in a 1970 Datsun 240Z. We were doing surveys for an across-the-state bike path geared towards cyclists wishing to tour the state and camp as part of their trip. This was part of an agenda for the SC parks recreation and tourism Deartment at that time. As we were driving along the proposed route, we saw a billboard that directed truckers on SC 6 (Near lake moultrie and US 176) to Prissy's Restaurant. ...followed the signs, came to a place with a big sign that said, "This is IT: PRISSY'S !!!". Parked the car, went to the front door, but the place was locked up tight, you could look through the glass and see footprints in the dust on the floor. Diurectly across the street was a large brick ranch house with about 8 big rig trucks parked in a gravel parking area in front. Behind the house were about 12 moble home ("trailers" in the vernacular) all on neat little gravel paths from the back of the house, but no driveways...
SSSSsooooo... we walk across the road and walked in through the front door into what looked like a VERY dimly lit diner, booths along the wall of a long narrow room. At first, it is so dim that we can't really see into the room, heavy blinds on the windows with drapes. There is a heavy set woman at a register at the door, to whom Walter (with his back to all the booths) says, "we're from the SC Dept of PRT and we're surveying potential campsights and food accomodations for the new cross-state bike trail, we'd like to ask you a few questions..." She immediately appears agitated, and says to Walter, "Sir, we only serve truckers here, I'm afraid I'm going to have to ask you to leave..." and while Walter is trying to explain that we only are surveying the area, my eyes adjust to the dim light and just over Walter's head is a large sign with the adage:

...and I can see behind Walter many men seated with several scantly clad ladies at each booth in the room... 2 heavy set men appear seemingly out of nowhere behind Walter with their arms crossed...
I then realized where we were and what Prissy served to truckers...
Dragged Walter out to the car for a conference and we left.
Many laughs over the years on that!
