Still Splitting wood 2 years later

I took down 4 trees & had 3 large trees taken down 2 years ago. One tree was 52" straight across!! 1st year I cut & split more then 1/2 the wood. Last year 1/2 of what's left, this year I'm trying to finish up.
But I get the feeling I will still have some left to be split in the Spring
The big hunks I have to split where they are, not possible to move them.
The 1st year I had a backhoe that I was using to move wood

I'm having so much fun, at least I have nice warm 2 days to work on it

Always the down side to taking out big trees, I have taken down a few big old oaks and gave the stuff away to someone with a splitter

We used 3 tanks of oil our 1st year here, basement was down to 47-49.
After insulation & replacing 3 basement windows used 1 1/2 tanks the 2nd year.
The 3rd year I went to mostly heating with wood, used about 1/2 tank of oil. But splitting & burning is a lot of work. This year with a 4 month old we will be mostly heating with oil. Wood will be back up, and for "ambience"
We've already used 1/4 tank this year & not even into the real heating season. Wife wants it at 68-70 all the time with the baby. She's at her mom's - I turned it down to 62 last night, and only 65-67 today

I've replaced the basement door, which was one of the last sources of cold air leak. I still have 2 old basement windows, but they will border the new garage. One window will become a door, the other will become a cat door for a litter box in the garage. The wife is VERY happy with that idea.

One big tree had to come out to build the new garage
The 2nd & largest tree was hollow going up maybe 10'. I preferred to have to taken down then have it crush my shed or pool fence. The 3rd tree was taken down for access to the 2nd. And also to allow more sun into the pool area. I had to clear out an overgrown area 25' x 75' that the former owner ignored. Next Spring I hope to clear out the rest of the wood & start to organize & plant stuff
