Question

Space Heaters - HELP!!!

Our babies room is COLD! And I can't seem to get the furnace to get more heat to it. I have tired everything from closing all other heat sources and forcing the air to it to pumping the whole house heat up to unbearable temps.

I think the issue is, it is the last room on the line and I just can't get enough heat over to it.

Anyway...I want a nice SAFE Space Heater. Consumer Reports recommends the Honeywell HZ-519 (but it seems to be discontinued - I can get it but I am not sure I trust the sources). I was even thinking about that EdenPure one (supposed to be cool to the touch and it is $300), but Consumer Reports says it is junk!

Anyway...does anyone have any recommendations?!?!

Any help is appreciated!

If you have forsed hot air,you can install a small moter in the duck to boost the temp in that room.

I borrowed one of those oil filled radiator types from a coworker for a couple of weeks. It was quiet and did a great job. They have them at Target.

We use an oil filled heater too and it works great. You would have to remove it when the baby can get up and touch it to avoid burns though.

partially close the vents that come before that room to boost the pressure

Thank you..tried that (I closed all the vents before that room) and I still don't get much. I am wondering if it may be partially blocked or if there is a gate somewhere in the line that is holding back the heat. But I can't get to it since my basement is finished (plastered ceilings)...stupid, stupid!

if you can get the vent open you can stick a snake in there to check for blockages

Good thought, I can see if I can get it off. What do I do if it is blocked?!? I don't really want to rip my ceiling out...

there are services that can clean out your ductwork for you. I would look into that first of all. after that go find a good oil filled radiator style.

Check and see if there are manual balancing dampers somewhere near the furnace itself. If the ducks insulated, the small arms might even be buried underneath the insulation.
