Some springtime Colorado photos
Well it is springtime, but it was a balmy 6 degrees for this picture with 35 mph winds (you math whizzes can figure out the windchill). It was freezing on the slopes so we came home during daytime and stopped and took some pictures. Thought since it was so cold I better bundle up...
Cynthia got me to finally try Inferno today. It is double black bumps and second only to the Horseshoe Bowl in difficulty. Went well but sheesh it is scary even looking at the picture.
The Scottish Highland cattle looked funny out there.
Pikes Peak was a little covered in clouds.
The cows did not watch the news about the blizzard and calved.
And this poor cabin needs some TLC.

Elevation 11,539 feet! Where's your oxygen tank? I didn't calculate the wind chill but I figure if you'd stayed in that pose for more than 30 seconds Cynthia would've had to break you into pieces to fit you in the car.
Terrific pictures, Perry. You did a great job of capturing the 'ambience' of Springtime in the Rockies.

This was on the pass on the way down. Lifts go up to 13,000 feet well above the treeline. We just went up to 12,000 yesterday and it was cold and really windy!!!!!

Why is a pass way out there called Hoosier?
After all the hubbub lately, Phish do you wear a helmet when you ski? I only went maybe a dozen and a half times but I never even seen anyone wear a helmet.

Did I ever tell you about the time Brasky went hunting? Well anyway, Brasky decides he's gonna hunt down all four members of the Banana Splits. He stalks and kills every one of them with a machete. They all beg for their lives, except Fleagul.

We always wear helmets. I would say about 75% of folks wear helmets these days since even before the news articles. They make covers and all kinds of cool helmets these days so they don't look too dorky, and the goggles have offset hinges so the whole system works together.
Most of the folks not wearing helmets are bimbos or the really agro stupid folks...the gene pool in general is fairly safe.

Its been probably 5 or 10 years since I have been skiing but I honestly never saw one besides on TV. Granted I think the skiing in Indiana is probably a bit less dangerous than in Colorado

I think helmets are a great idea... I think what was irritating me was the fact that people were clamoring to sue the ski resort where Liam's wife died or irrate that it wasn't a law. I don't really like the gov't telling people how to take care of themselves. Trans fats, seatbelts, helmets.... blah, I'm a grown man. Ok rant over, I promise
Does anyone know why it is called Hoosier pass? Hoosier is what people in Indiana are called. Surely it wasn't a dude from Indiana that made it over the continental divide.

Personal Protective Equipment to meet a potential threat level is a good idea, but I resent government mandating that it be worn. As someone that has logged a lot of miles on donor cycles I resent being told I have to wear a helmet, why stop there, why not mandate that boots and leathers be required as well. When just cruising around I enjoy the wind in hair aspect of riding, but on a sportbike pushing it or hauling but on a dirt bike I wear one, as well as the rest of the armour. I galls me to no end to see someone squirreling around on a crotch rocket with the girlfriend on the back wearing a big old full face helmet and a T shirt, shorts and sandals
