Some Colorado Scenery

Finally got out and saw this pretty state with Cynthia. We went to Ouray to see tons of wildflowers and the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. Most of the roads were marked "High Clearance 4x4" only, and we drove up above the treeline to 12,400 feet just below one of the fourteeners.

It was an awesome weekend away!!!

Next trip over we will have to get a beer Hop.

The hotel was from the 1800's. The pink and white flowers are the Columbine which is the Colorado state flower.

Did you through the lower portion of the state, through monte vista, or did you go the I-70 route? I'm just a couple miles off I-70.

We are planning a trip in the next couple of years. i was in and around Grand Junction one summer as a kid and loved the mountains around there. Different from home in Montana.

Cool! Grand Junction is our "big city" We are 40 minutes from there. It's a little different as it is desert mountains. About twenty miles east of my house, the normal mountains start.... But as you climb in elevation, so does the cost of living

We took the 50 from Canon City through Monarch Pass and through Gunnison. It was spectacular. On our next pass through Grand Junk we will have to look you up Hop.

Motorslave, this was spectacular in a way only Montana or Yellowstone and the Tetons are, but in a totally different way. Guess we both seem to love the mountains. Oh yeah..no grizzlies either and no **** snakes.

Nice shots.....I want to someday get back to colorado springs, I know that isn't really western but really would love to see it, as an adult instead of a baby...was born there... been to denver a couple of times and 1 time in the springs...but that was for business and I know I was sleeping when the plane landed....lol Colorado is great...
