so who feeds the birds?
I just made a batch of homemade suet and it's the way to go, much more cost effective compared to buying suet plugs.
Then this past weekend we went up to turn the water off at the cabin and I went for a walk in over an inch of snow! Here's a shot of a little junco who stopped to say hello.

Sometimes I get old sliced bread and feed the pigeons and ducks at a place close to the house. The kids have fun doing it.

we feed the birds the butterflyies and the Squrriels.. matter a fact i just chased my little buddy of the screen porch. he made a hoe in the screen so he can get to the bird seed and eat the sunflower seeds!.. we feed a bunch squirrels, one set a mom ( that we fed all the time) died , so we sorta became the foster parents.. buddy follows me around the yard now, and eats out of my hand. but this is about birds...sorry

I love my bird collection. This Spring I had 5 active nests in my yard at one time. Three of them were in boxes I put out. I wish my camera was good enough to get some shots but at the distance I watch them from they don't come out good.

Ive been trying for months to feed our chihuahua to the owls by leaving her outside at night....but the women of the house always catch me and get all mad for some reason
coyotes would work too but it would be too noisy...........owls are nice and silent

I feed some thistle in the winter and get goldfinches. In the summer if I use regular feed I get too many pigeons which are messy. My dad is a feeding machine, though, year round. Humming birds, ducks, songbirds, etc. He uses corn, suet, thistle, sunflower, mixed... He has garbage cans in the garage in which he stores it. Oh, and he keeps track of the species that visit the feeders. I think he's nuts!
