I got the idea from the Black Jungle site. They claim to have non-tropicals overwintering in Massachusetts (I think).

Haven't gotten pics just yet. The hail we had last night was pretty kind to the garden. I am hoping to meet a few folks from work for a short mountain bike ride tonight and will hopefully get home in time to take a few pics.

Here are the pics. There hasn't been much growth yet. The only thing I still plan to add to this one yet is a Bluebird House.

You can see my sump output at the top of the pebble stream.

Did I ever tell you about the time Brasky went hunting? Well anyway, Brasky decides he's gonna hunt down all four members of the Banana Splits. He stalks and kills every one of them with a machete. They all beg for their lives, except Fleagul.

Thanks!

That riverstone is pretty large too. The sump output pipe is 1 1/2" for reference.

I actually have some of it for FW tanks, I use it for egg deposit place. It is just small enough that it takes forever to hand unload but too big to use a shovel for. I was a landscape installer a few seasons before i went back to school and we all hated that stuff. Was it pricey? In Indiana it would have been 3x the price of smaller stuff we call septic rock (golfball sized)

I did landscaping for 5 years. We never had the stuff this size. It was a bit on the pricey side. 32 cents a pound and I have about $120 worth.

The funny thing is that in Indiana brown crushed limestone called meremac is one of the priciest stones for ground cover and only one account every used it. Here in MO people use it for their driveways

I guess I am still not getting this, so you have a drain and a rock field feeding into a swamp biotype?

Thats sort of it. It collects rainwater so that it can be absorbed rather than runoff into streams. IT isn't a swamp because it is going to dry out and only have standing water right after a rain. You need plants that can tolerate a degree of submersion or dryness. I think cattails and iris are the prime examples I think of.

Ah, gotcha, that explains why the Irises do well under the leaky roof gutters

Jeremy got it! I only put the rock drain field in because the ground stays so wet from the sump.

It's funny, but at 1st glance I thought the feeder was the flag at a golf course hole
