Question for the Electonics Experts
My girlfriend bought a 15" flat panel tv last winter from Toys R Us. Its made by Curtis. I've never heard of this company before. I've been trying to find a universal remote that will operate it because the one that came with it sucks beyond your wildest dreams. I've bought at least 5 universal remotes all of different brands and prices. None of them will work. Does anyone have a clue if there is a parent company that makes these tv's? (Sony, magnavox, RCA ect... ) Maybe if i could find that out i could enter a different code on the remote to make it

looks like you may need to wait for the remote market to catch up
I had the same problem with a cheapo DVD player I got a few years ago

Try using a learning remote and program it with your current remote.

Usually the universals have some sort of code search, good luck

I've used the code search feature and let the remote go through every code in its memory. Still nothing. I'll have to look into one of those learning remotes. That sounds like an idea.
What sucks about the factory remote is that it only has a range of about 10ft and you have to be pointed EXACTLY straight at the sensor on the tv or it wont work. Kinda a p-i-t-a if your layin in bed. (tv's in my bedroom)

It may not be the remote, but the sensor on the TV. Also, sometimes lighting can cause interference, but I imagine if you're watching in bed the lights arent on.

Haha.. Yeah, it seemed like a good deal at the time. It was a 15" LCD flatscreen for $124.99. Couldnt pass it up. The tv actually works great. Pretty good picture and nice features. The remote is just lacking to say the least. A guy on the corral.com (a mustang forum) pointed me in the right direction I think. This is one mean look'n remote control. http://cgi.ebay.com/Logitech-Harmony...QQcmdZViewItem

Try this Sony Remote control Model RM-VL600
This thing works wonders. It's a learning remote and it worked on a FTA box that i have that i know no UNI Control would work on. It will control up to 8 components and has a very good rang. pick it up at WM for about $20

When all else fails, convert that flat screen into a dynamic picture frame have a computer geek buddy hook up a microdrive to it with pictures and hang it on your wall
