Pray for those down south
I just found out last night that my disabled aunt was killed in the recent foolding of New Orleans. She was a parapalegic and her live in care taker, my worthless deadbeat cousin, abandoned her when he heard the levees were breaking. I tried to book a ticket to go down there and help out but they are restricting access to the area to aviod anymore casualties. I asked the relief coordinated what I could do to help. All he said was send money, blankets, clothes and pray with all your heart. The feared number of dead may well go over 1000. In the last three days I have gathered, with the help of my church, 10,000 dollars and over 40 blanket and close to 150 pounds of clothing. I bought 400 dollars worth of little teddy bears for all those poor kids. We are good people when we choose to be. If the rest of the country pulls together for those down there we can really help out. I truely feel that that is what the "American Spirit" is.

I'm so sorry to hear about your Aunt. It is really nice to hear how your community so far away from the devastion is donating so much. I have made a donation to the Red Cross via their website and would encourage everyone else to do so as well. Even the smallest amount adds up and is put to good use.
again I am very sorry for the loss of your Aunt.

I am so sorry to hear about Your Aunt. For all the lost of life. I pray for the little kids that have to witness this, and the parents that are so helpless right now to provide for their families.

Tab, that really sux man, sorry for the loss of your aunt, its hard to deal from afar. its got to be frustrating as hell, but it seems you turned it around and did a good thing.
My prayers go out to everyone down there, hopefully there plight will be relieved soonest. i really worry about the long term effects this is going to have, I suspect this is the start, if the coming winter is as cold as the summers been hot we could be in a world of hurt

Oh no, Tab! I'm so very sorry about your aunt. It's good to see what your community has done for the effort to help down there. Prayer for strength to carry everyone through this.
I'm with you, Doug. We all need to get in a conservation mode here in the US. I heard that kids at a local high school are riding bikes to school. Imagine that
Lots of love and hugs to you, Tab!

That's the part that make me sick about it. Now the predetors come out. I honestly feel that when they catch the scumbags doing the shootings they should line them up in the city square to be shot them selves. I have been in place like that around the world. Like Mogadishue and Bosnia, I never thought it would happen here.

Tab, I'm really sorry about your aunt. That's just a terrible situation down there and I don't know the answers except to send all the help we can and keep them in our prayers. Sounds like you are doing all you can. From what I saw last evening, it looks like time to declare martial law and send in more troops to protect and rescue the law-abiding folks who are just struggling to survive.
My condolences to you and your family for the loss of your aunt.
Dick

Tab,
I'm so sorry for the death of your Aunt. As to your brother, well, he'll have to live with his actions.
It's a good thing your church and community is doing; it all helps, even my family's little donation to the Red Cross. And prayers, lots of those.
I just can't believe the conditions down there; the Gulf Coast and New Orleans are going to be years in the recovery. So sad.

I just want to add a comment about donations of help.
Yesterday one of our regular patrons, who happens to have modest means but a huge heart, said that though she could not afford to make a monetary donation, she was going to donate time to our local Red Cross. Her thought was that whatever she can do there will free up time for someone to do another job. EVERY donation of time, prayers, $, helps.
