That is so sad for the people who've lost their pets. We feed our dogs Hill's Science Diet - Nature's Best. We stopped feeding Walmart food years ago when it started giving our dogs hot spots.

wow thanks!!!!
I have been feeding my shepards the nutro max. I mix the wet and dry foods and lately they both have been dropping weight and not eating a whole lot so I made I guess lucky for us I was late getting off work las t week and couldn't pick up anymore wet food so they have been only getting dry. Now they are putting their wieght back on, and I am so glad they are still going to the vet so we can be sure it wasnt anything strange (thet are up to date on thier shots and always get monthly deworming meds) you never know what stray dogs or birds can bring around (we have a alley behind our house) But it is good to know about this so I can ask the vet, if maybe it was as simple as thier food.

Yeah, it looks like the problem was just with wet/moist food. Although I don't think they have confirmed that the problem was with their wheat gluten supply, I'm going to guess that's where the problem came from.
A few months ago, maybe closer to 6 months ago, Diamond brand pet foods here on the East Coast had a problem with moldy corn getting into their food and caused botulism, IIRC. We had just bought a pallet of it and had to take it back. Yes, I said we bought a pallet of dogfood...my wife breeds Bulldogs, and a 40 lb bag of dog food only lasts 6 days here.
We only feed dry food for a few reasons...one, it helps keep their teeth cleaner by scraping the plaque off and two, if we ever get a dog that doesn't want to eat, canned food works great since they don't get it that often.

Yup, that does suck,,,,hope no more k9's are harmed by the bad batch o food,,,,
It is a long list,,
Luckily i feed Evangers here, Shepherds and Doxies both are on the dry,,,
Never saw much sense in "wet" foods,,My cousin is the biggest retailer of Evangers dry food, in the country,,and after seeing the food making process in person, that was enuf for me to switch from Euk, after using it for 15 yrs prior,,I should eat so well,,,,LOL

wow....very sorry to hear you were affected.
Hope your pup gets better.
So it's only canned food? I use Authority's dry food. Authority's on the list, but only the canned. Hope I'm still safe.

from the info we were sent where i work, it was only the wet foods, and only a few flavors and then only certain production dates.
we've had some people being obnoxious about it.
there will be many trying to unfairly take advantage of this
but i hope anyone who's pet was endangerd/harmed/worse by whatever happend is compensated as much as is possible.
