Its mathematical. Take the example they give, 23, 2+3 = 5, 23-5 = 18. Now, look at the 18, remember the symbol, and click. Once you are convinced, try another number. 99 for example. 9+9 = 18, 99-18 = 81. Look at the symbol for 81. Now look at the symbol on 18 (before you click), 18 and 81 will have the same symbol.
