I'd check it out & replace it IMO
I was getting mild shocks from my basement lights
(8) 40w flourescent lights, not a single one one switch
I finally installed multiple switches & took down the old lights
Turns out the circuit was only 2 wire - no ground (I was the ground I guess)
Now I have a switch before you enter the main basement
Then a switch for the tool room & switch for large overhead lights in the basement
Then another switch for shelving area
And another switch before you enter the boiler/breaker room
Installed my 1st AFCI (arc fault) breakers for the new upstairs bedrooms
It doesn't like my (2) old floor lamps or a surge protector
All (3) kick off the AFCI breaker

Totally a shot in the dark.
I have a pair of those bedside lamps that you touch to turn on (uses body capacitance to switch over a relay triggered by a transistor), it will sometimes turn on when the fan in the bathroom is cut on then off.

LOL, that's not a technique exclusive to men. I call it "percussive maintenance."

I could comment but there is nothing I could possibly add...both are effective. Man this thread went into the gutter quickly and leapfrogged a food reference.

I will ask my dad when I talk to him next (have to call during hospital hours). He's a master electrician and might have an idea....
