New family member
I am proud to announce that my son is now the owner of a 1997 328iS. *sniff*
Pics are on the way.
Something is not right though...I earn about twice what my fiance and my son earn combined and am stuck in a clapped out Sentra with 175/70 skinny tires and 110 hp after a fresh tuneup at sea level. (Not to mention unsupportive seats, drum brakes in back, no CD player, no sunroof...the list of stuff missing goes on ad nausea)

Great year model as well, It already has the prestegeous distinction of being one of the best 10 production sports cars EVER (Road and Track and Car and Driver )
What color, which engine, etc?

I will post it all Sunday. Looks like the 2.8 and the previous owner added a K&N intake but hopefully not too much else. The sport package that year was super nice and he has the leather and Harmon Kardon stereo as well. I made my son buy the Bentley book and gave him a really nice tool bag and some decent tools along with electrical tape, a shiny new big old Maglight and a bunch of other goodies. He has helped me build a few VW motors and work on a bunch of other cars so hopefully a few of the repairs and mods will come in handy some day.
The car is silver gray with all of the factory sport cladding and spoilers with matching interior so it is about as German as they come.
You are going to think I am crazy but I am thinking about a 2002 tii now. My last new car was a way modified Mustang, but having a back to basics wonderful car seems the way to go for my twilight years.

heh! The tii's I've had experience with tend to all run hot, are tempermental in terms of the ignition, but were GREAT HANDLING CARS! (and easy to work on)
...but if you want a better car at about the same money (and newer and the bugs worked out), a 1989-91 325i would be your car, that or a 1990 M3 4 banger. They can be had CHEAPLY in California. The M is an AWESOME track car, and it is cheap to operate and maintain, without the TON of electronic brain stuff that the 1995 on models have and NO OBDII OR OBDI.
Either that or forget modifying the car and get a 97-99 M3
