If you are not into gaming or other hard core video applications I think you are fine. Laptops are pretty cheap and reliable these days. I have a Toshiba with similar specs and it is flawless for the stuff I do.

personally, I'm a dell fan. Think they got better notebooks over there, for a cheaper price:

http://www1.us.dell.com/content/prod...pecstab#tabtop

that's a 2.13GHz compared to the 1.8 you were looking at. couple hundred cheaper too. And you can add /remove what you want/don't need.

That is one laptop i was looking at also. It is a toss up between Toshiba and HP right now. The reason i am looking at HP again is my current laptop is 4-5 years old and it was working great till the end.

What happened to it was where the power cord plugs into the laptop the piece inside of the latop broke. It is fixable but at 4-5 years old it just isnt worth it. Something else might go wrong. It will still work but the battery wont charge. It was an HP AMD XP 2400+, 40 gig HD, 512mb DDR RAM. I bought it 4-5 years ago for $999. I am going to try and sell it in pieces on EBay, well not me but my brother in law will list it.
