Need printer suggestions

I am helping a grandma find a new printer and i would like your suggestions.

color or black and white, laser or inkjet is fine too.

the printer must be an all-in-one allowing for fax, photocopy, print and scan.

what are your thoughts? this is for a PC

two years ago I got my wife a Cannon MP780. AWESOME!!! It's copies photos just like a professional photo place. and it uses individual ink cartraidges, so it saves on ink. That was 2 years ago... a few months my father in law got the "new" MP870 and loves it! I think it was aroune 350-400$

We got an HP all in one at my last job for a small office and used the crap out of it. It was a workhorse but might be a bit pricy in the $400.00 range.

I had a canon printer once and hated the individual ink cartridges. One always ran out and they were expensive.

she has an HP currently and for the last few times... and they all eventually (within a year or 2) gave massive print errors and died.

most printers are disposable, it's the ink that makes the money

It's a racket. It's absurd to pay $15+ for an ink cartridge that will print less than 100 pages. I would buy a printer that you can refill the cartridges.

Oh and BTW, Lexmark is the biggest POS printer there is. Sorry I'm not more helpful.

I have the HP spc 1210 it doesnt fax tho but I believe they have a current model that does, I have refilled the cartridges at local Walgreens and get a LOT of copies from the B/W print mode, I would get a newer one if this dies

Canon.

I got my mom the mp530 a little while ago and it does a great job. Nice photo quality prints and long lasting cartridges, around 300 pages. As with most Canons each color has a cartridge, instead of the crappy tricolor ones that clog and cost $50.
