Need help with kids prodject
Okay, my daughter has to invent a device to keep a raw egg from braking when you drop it on concrete. I am not creative when it comes to stuff like this. Any ideas or suggestions would be most appreciated!

ok we did this, the teacher has guidelines. you need to make a basket of some sort so search around the house for supplys, but your best bet is to write it out and go to your local hobby shop and buy everything on your list.
1) basket with cotton batting inside to cushion the landing w/ a model rocket parachute attached to the basket.
my hubby gave me another idea but it is to much to type so I will pm you with my phone #

I never got a chance to do one of these but watched a few. you need to build it so the egg holder makes it as well as the egg. cotton is nice but i would look at something to absorb more impact. i think my brother did this in high school.

Well my daughter is about 4 ft so it will be dropping no more that than. Zoa that sounds promising. I also have some of that memory foam so may use that instead of cotton. Keep em coming.

with memory foam the egg can't snuggle in, so you would have to carve a little nitch in the foam for the egg. with the cotton batting you can build a nest so to speak, but either one will work. This is a really fun project to do lots of parent child time

Well we will have a little egg dropping party this weekend! OOhhh fun! Hubby suggested taking the memory foam, hollow it out so the egg can slide in (like a foot in a sock) then tie the play parachute thru the foam. Will try and post pics. We havn't even finished the bug collection and now we have this project to do. BTW I hate bugs, not my favorite project by far!

Ooh I like this. Rubber bands. Build a box then have the egg somehow suspended in the middle of the box with rubber bands.

Apparently this is a very popular type of contest. If you Google "egg drop contest" you can get tons of information. Many of these contests are from pretty high heights. I think I'll challenge my kids and see if they can beat me out. Sounds like fun.

Just an idea I remember someone did it in high school. Take some keg cups and tape them together so when the shoot drops the cups will take all the shock, cause they will fall into each other and stuff the cup with the egg and pack it with some soft toilet paper.Tape the top closed the the egg won't fall out and break
