lipstick in carpet

We are baby sitting a dog, who ate my wife's lipstick and got it onto the carpet, any ideas on how to get red lipstick out of a cream carpet?

Thanks

Jon

Mary Kay "oil free eye makeup remover"... It is not oil based so it won't stain the carpet and it will break down/dissolve the lipstick. Then clean the spot with a little soap and water.

You could also try "goof off", they have a water based formula although I don't know how it will react to/with the carpet.

Yup. I've used Goof Off to remove crayon from wallpaper. Great stuff.

I got some stuff from a professional janitorial supply store (no it was not for lipstick but lists it). The important thing the owner said to do was not use something else or a carpet cleaner as that would set in the stain.

Did you get the stain out?

I was going to mention to spot test on an inconspicous place to make sure whatever you use, does not discolour the carpeting.

My son left a red chap-stick in his pocket which went through the wash AND dry cycle and melted onto everything I'm still trying to get stains out...

Yikes. goof off on the carpet is a very bad idea, read the label warnings, you'll end up having your carpet fall apart, use goo gone, much milder and equally as effective

The lipstick came out, I used a little goof off and some regular carpet cleaner.

The dog that we are watching is a very sweet Siberian Husky but she is still a puppy, I have lost a few much needed belts to her chewing

We are not sure if we are going to keep her, she has a few other issues that we are trying to work on .
