Jeez!
I just had the guanno scared out of me.... there was a lightning strike about 200ft from my apartment  Bright flashing streak and a thunderous boom!
pardon me while i run for cover.....

I know what you mean Southern. I've had lighting strike within 100 yards 3 times in my life. Two separate times I was working within 100' of two different churches when it hit, LOL. You think it's a sign? Another time I was driving past a large billboard and lighting hit the top corner of it.

Oh yeh, years ago I saw ball lightning come bouncing in our house. Scared the bejeezus outa me. Nearly straightened my hair
Umm...gotta ask, SR...why were you still on the puter with all that electricity bouncing?

rwd, you know your really close to a lighting bolt when you notice the the color of the lighting is blue/gold instead of white. what's really neato is when it hits a power transformer, then you see that strange glow of red/blue/green light up the dark sky just as you lose power! that's awesome!

And there is a strange smell just before the strike. To me it smells like chlorine. Probably the ions in the air.
