Invisibility ... do you think it will happen?
I recently read an article in a local paper about a group that has come up with a darker black than the current used for the reference for the color black. This black is actually 300 times blacker than our current reference for "true" black. Basically it states that it is 99.9% black, reflecting almost no light and absorbing almost all of it.
If they get that other 1% this thing will disappear! This is a pretty scary thought, do you think it will happen?

Are we talking pigment or light? All the colors together in pigment is black whereas all the colors of light is white? So are we talking about an area with an abundance or a lack of color?
Just wondering

See, now we are breaching the realm of Physics.
100% black is not possible to create (with our current technology), and you wouldn't want to do it!
If an object was 100% non-reflective it is a bad thing, especially if it were created on earth.
formula breakdown:
If an object/surface/material/ect... had the capability to absorb 100% of the spectrum of light, it would create a 'gravity well'. Causing a point of infinite acceleration. (a black hole) Ending life on our planet in a couple seconds, give or take a few nanoseconds.
This is only theory, as we have not been able to create a 100% black object to prove it, however... do we really want to do it to say "haha I told you so"???

..... and it continues to get even more interesting. I think it would create total chaos on earth either way ... because we all know, it would fall into the wrong hands.

If you painted a penny with 100% black and dropped it in your pocket, I guess you'd have a hole in your pocket...

I think my wife has found that already. Maybe she should contact NASA or some other organization

I am pretty sure that we already have the ability to fool light into thinking it can't be seen

we're almost already there in some spectra of the em radiation spectra, that's why stealth aircraft exist. Yjr hpoal would be n9ot to be 100% absorptive of ll em, just certain parts of the spectra. That is why we see colors: some objects just absorb all but what they reflect and either reflect or re-emit that em which we can detect as that particular color...
