I tell you the turning point for me.
When I realized they were just as scared and nervous.
They may be a different sex than you, but they're still human. If the date happens, she'll be JUST as freaked out as you're gonna be going into it. "What if he doesn't like me? What if we don't get along? What if he thinks I'm a freak for not eating meat? What if I'm not pretty enough for him? What if I'm not his type?"
and MUCH MUCH more is going through her head too.
I like Spank's idea of getting to know her more, becoming friends in the office, etc...all prior to asking her out. But sometimes that has it's own risks too. (the "friend" zone).
Either way, stop worrying about things. I know it's easier said then done...but everytime you start getting nervous/freaking out/etc...FORCE yourself to think about how she's probably freaking out worse.
Once I TRULY believed that...Dating became MUCH MUCH simpler for me.
It's the same for asking a girl out. You never know...she may be into you, but too scared to ask you out. Same reason you won't go over and ask HER out. Anatomy is different...but when it comes to inital dating...both are mentally similar in approaching/getting to know each other.
Either way...good luck.
And here's another note: If she says yes to lunch/date/etc, that means she's ALREADY interested. So you don't have to worry anymore.

OMG is this true! I know I jumped into this thread late, but man all the boys are here where are the ladies!!
Everything Skeety said is true and then some. Chill - the guys have given you some words of wisdom, take it or leave it, but if you hear anything just be you - and right now that sounds a bit nervous - so OK be YOU! and remember she is WAY more scared than you - the noise in a womans head is DEAFENING!

Next if all goes well find something you both like to do (ie:shoot pool, bowling, mini golf) avoid the movies until you have a comfy zone (ie: where you can focus on something else with out wondering what she thinks of you or what she thinks of the date) movies give people to much time to focus on why we DON'T want to be there!!! You have already past the first hurdle asking her out on the first date. Congrats!
If you ever need girly advice you know where to find me and the page is not even pink anymore.

"It went fine".....that's it? That's all the report we get? "Went fine" could mean anything from merely surviving it to ready to announce the engagement.
Glad it 'went fine'.

After all this all we get is 'went fine'. Sheesh, talk about a cliff hanger. What are the details? Another date in the future or what? Oh maybe she was over at his apartment and that's all he had time to post. MAYBE that's why he just cleaned up his fish room too. LOL
