Well, what would I know...I have been with my wife for 10 years since I was 21 (only married for 3). I can't even remember what we did for our first date...I think we went to a strip club (j/k). I do think we went to a movie though...then to a bar (a relaxed bar) for some food and a beer.

I do like coffee and dessert though, it is not messy like dinner and it is usually quiet and you can talk face to face without interruption.

Dinner is USUALLY a good first date but in your case that could go south with a Vegetarian. I dated one of those misfits a while back and what a PITA. I've never seen someone complain about food so much. You may just want to take her out to the pasture instead and let her graze.

When I was a kid there was another family that we knew and would have over for dinner from time to time, they were veggies. My mom would always forget something she served had something in it, she would put away the odvious thigns, cook a veggi main course, but always serve something like bread with margrine on it totally forgeting that margrine has animal something in it. Another one was cream with the coffie one time.

What a pain,
Whiskey

I can appreciate having fun with a vegitarian (of course we love you cath!)

all this talk about ribs and fluffy is making me hungry... I am not a guy that will do a movie on a first date. to friggin expensive these days. maybe we can go hunting for bunnies instead.

I agree with the movie and a soda or coffee for the first date. Just because it's someplace that you don't have to talk a lot, at first. Then soda or coffee if the movie thing went well.
All in all... let us know how it goes. Good luck! Wear lots of deodorant - please.

And brush your teeth, and if your eating somewhere bring a mint along with you.
