Smell it.But I wouldn't drink it more then a couple days after the date. The date on it is the last day they can sell it.I don't think it's worth getting sick when it doesn't cost that much to get a new bottle.

Smell test period. It can be good for a couple of weeks past the expiration. Especially if you are buying organic milk and keep it cold....normal milk can be fine for a week past...
My son just woke me up and Im now going to go raid the cupboard for some Oreo's and steal some of his yummy organic milk.

I use the smell test. But then my oldest used to go through a gallon of milk in about two days so it never had a chance to get old.

Just taste it. If it's bad spit it out, it won't kill you.

If it says AUG 2ND, then I'm sure it's spoiled. Today is SEPTEMBER 9th!!
My wife things she's going to die anytime we use something that's past the expiration date, so we don't bother with any testing. If it's past, it's in the trash!

Funny topic of conversation here... I usually give it the smell test, but every time I've got my nose shoved down inside the carton and I take a big ol' whiff I start thinking... I've never stuck my nose in a carton of fresh milk so I really don't have anything to compare to.
I say go for it (unless August 2nd wasn't a typo) and if you see chunks as you're pouring it into the glass, throw it out. I usually keep it at least a week after the sell by date. What doesn't kill you will only make you stronger.
